Pacquiao wife gives birth to baby girl

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines – Dionisia Pacquiao was so happy upon learning her daughter-in-law Jinkee gave birth at 6:37 a.m. Tuesday (10:37 p.m. Manila time) to a baby girl at the Los Angeles Metropolitan Hospital.

"Gusto ko nang makita ang bagong apo ko. Sana makauwi na sila dito para mayakap at mahalikan ko ang apo ko (I want to see my new granddaughter already. I hope they come home so I can hug and kiss my granddaughter)," Dionisia said.

The mother of the boxing superstar said she will be even happier if her son Manny and his wife Jinkee would have a dozen children.

"Sinabihan ko sila na mag-anak kahit isang dosena tutal kaya naman nila. Mas marami, mas masaya (I told them to have as many as a dozen children since they can afford to anyway. The more, the merrier)," she said.

But Dionisia, known for being a religious person, stressed that family planning was good especially if the parents could not afford to raise many children.

"Okay ang maraming anak kung kayang buhayin at pag-aralin ng magulang. Kung nagcontrol kami noon ng asawa ko baka wala si Manny Pacquiao (It’s all right to have many children if the parents can bring them up and send them to school. If my husband and I practiced birth control, we may not have had Manny)," Dionisia said, laughing.

She claimed she wanted to be with her grandchildren in the United States, but her travel papers were still being processed.

She hopes to travel to the US some time next year when her passport and visa are approved.

Dionisia keeps herself busy giving away to friends and neighbors calendars with a picture of Manny and his family.

Michael Bren Evangelio, Pacman's personal secretary, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that the Filipino ring icon ordered 300,000 copies of the personalized calendar with the picture of his family -- himself, Jinkee, Michael Stephen, Emmanuel Jr., and Mary Divine Grace.
